KRA is undertaking a reconciliation exercise of the taxpayers’ accounts in the old system to establish the correct tax balances. The balances will thereafter be migrated to the new iTax system.
During the exercise, taxpayers will be contacted by heads of their respective Tax Stations through letters to confirm their ledger balances before the migration. The exercise which has commenced with Large and Medium Taxpayers will in due course be rolled out to other taxpayers’ countrywide.
KRA emphasizes that the communication under this exercise will be a request for confirmation of the correctness of the balances and not an assessment. However, balances transferred after validation will be displayed on the iTax platform for the taxpayer to take the appropriate compliance action.
In case you have evidence to support a different ledger position, present the same to the coordinating team as will be indicated in the letter.
