KRA -PUBLIC NOTICE - withholding


	Withholding & Instalment Taxes, VAT, Standards Levy Mobile Cellular Phone Excise Duty, Sugar Development Levy & Excise Duty

Due Date: Friday 18th January, 2008

Kenya Revenue Authority wishes to remind all taxpayers (companies and individuals) that since the 20th January,2008 falls on Sunday, the due date for the above mentioned taxes falls will be Friday 18th January, 2008 as detailed below:-

Withholding tax deductions made during the month of December 2007
Instalment tax from taxpayers whose accounting periods end on;

i)          30th September        - 1st Instalment and balance of tax if any.
ii)         31st July                    - 2nd Instalment
iii)       30th April                  - 3rd Instalment
iv)        31st January             - 4th Instalment

VAT [Monthly Returns (VAT 3)], Standards Levy and Sugar Development Levy Returns for the month of December, 2007
Excise Duty for the month of December, 2007

Payments in respect of the following tax types may be made to the following appointed banks:

In view of an increase in diversion and fraudulent encashment of cheques, KRA advises taxpayers remitting Kshs.100, 000 or more to use Electronic Funds Transfer(EFT) facility to transfer funds through their banks to the Central Bank of Kenya account numbers mentioned above.

KRA will not accept responsibility for any lost cheques and will demand immediate replacement.

Taxpayers are hereby reminded to remit taxes and submit returns as required. Failure to comply with the above requirements will attract penalties and interest.
