EXCISE STAMPS FOR WINES AND SPIRITS
 
 

Following the introduction through the Finance Bill, 2006 of the requirement to affix excise stamps on wines and spirits sold after 1st January 2007, the Kenya Revenue Authority invites existing or prospective vendors of the products to submit information as below.

Manufacturers or importers of these products are required to apply to the Commissioner of Domestic Taxes, Large Taxpayers Office for the supply of stamps to cover their requirements for the 2007 calendar year. Applicants are required to provide the following information:

  • Company name and PIN number.
  • Physical location of manufacturing plant or principal place of business.
  • Names of Directors and their PIN numbers.
  • Bankers and bank account numbers.
  • Product range showing all major brands.
  • Packaging size for each brand.
  • Sales quantities for each brand size for the preceding twelve months.
  • Projected sales quantities for each brand size for 2007.

This information is required by 15th July 2006 at the latest. Stamps will be allotted only to those supplying the required details and in the precise numbers applied for. No wines and spirits products will be permitted for sale on the local market without the affixation of stamps after 1st January 2007.
