Kenya Revenue Authority wishes to inform the public that pursuant to Cap 403 Section 15 (2) of the Laws of Kenya, Motor vehicle or trailer owners should give the Registrar of Motor Vehicles written notice when their vehicles are off the road for a specified period upon which they will be given an exemption certificate after payment of Kshs 200/-.

The exemption certificate is subject to an annual renewal if the owner wishes to have the vehicle off the road for the subsequent year.

Owners of vehicles that are off the road without an exemption certificate will still be required to pay for that period.

Failure to acquire an exemption certificate will result in a penalty charge.
