PUBLIC NOTICE TO OWNERS OF UN-REGISTERED MOTOR VEHICLES THAT ARE NON-COMPLIANT WITH KENYA BUREAU OF STANDARDS RULE KS 1515:2000 (Extension of amnesty period)
The specific requirements of the standard, which may not allow registration of the vehicles for use in Kenya, are as follows: -
Recognising that the owners of these motor vehicles are desirous of having them registered, KRA and KEBS set up a Joint Task Force to review cases where the affected units are already in the country by 19th November 2006. Those interested persons are now advised that a further extension of three weeks has been granted and are advised to submit their applications by close of business on March 19th, 2007. All affected persons should apply for consideration in the application forms provided for in the KRA Website, all KRA, KEBS, and ministry of Trade and Industry offices. This exercise covers only motor vehicles that were imported on or before 19th November 2006. Applications should be submitted in sealed envelopes marked ‘Task Force on Unregistered Motor Vehicles’ and be sent to: - Owners of Left Hand Drive motor vehicles are required to present their applications and motor vehicles to the KEBS PVoC program office along Kapiti Road off Mombasa road. The new applicant and those who applied earlier on are required to present their vehicles for physical inspection and immediate release to the same offices within 90 days.
