APPLICATION FOR CUSTOMS LICENSES

(LICENSING OF CUSTOMS BONDED WAREHOUSES,TRANSIT GODOWNS,DUTY FREE SHOPS,CUSTOMS BONDED FACTORIES(MUBs), TRANSPORTERS AND VEHICLE LICENSES FOR CONVEYANCE OF GOODS IN TRANSIT AND GOODS UNDER CUSTOMS CONTROL)

Kenya Revenue Authority would like to invite applications in respect of the above licenses for year 2008. Interested parties for both new and renewal of the licenses are advised to submit their applications by 31st October 2007.

Transporters of Goods in Transit and Goods under Customs Control are required to be licensed under Regulation 210 and Section 244 of the East African Community Customs Management Act.

Applications for licensing of the above Customs Facilities received after 31st October 2007 will only be accepted for consideration upon payment of late application fee of Ksh 10,000.The conditions for renewal of such licenses include but are not limited to:-

1. Tax Compliance with Domestic Taxes Department.
2. Execution of the relevant Security Bonds.
3. Settlement of all outstanding queries
4. Satisfactory average monthly output in terms of duties and taxes

Applications must be submitted through the respective Customs Regional Offices where the Bonded Warehouses, MUBs, Duty Free Shops and Transit Go-downs are situated. Applications for the Transporter and Vehicle licenses should be submitted through the Transit Monitoring Unit offices in Mombasa, Kisumu, Nakuru, Eldoret and Nairobi.
